I have a variable speed jet mini lathe , 1014VS and am considering buying the Penn State Turncrafter pro to have at my summer cabin. I also have a variable speed control from MLCS that I use on a single speed router I have. Would it work to use that control on either the Turncrafter Pro lathe or the Jet that is not the VS model? I posed the question on the Penn State help link and never got a reply. I love the variable speed Jet mini , and was hoping to save a few bucks on theTurncrafter Pro or Jet 1014 lathe for the cabin. (Keeps the bride happy)
Thanks, Herb Knowlton Re: Variable speed lathe

Herb,
The variable speed control from MLCS will work on any AC/DC motor that has carbon brushes., provided that you do not exceed the current (amps) rating of the MLCS controller. Be sure to check the current rating (amps) of each potential candidate motor to make sure that it is equal to or less than the amps rating of the MLCS Speed Controller. John Re: Variable speed lathe

I have a wood working mini Lathe, fixed speed model MC1018 with an induction electric motor 110 VAC rated at 370W (1/2 HP) 110 volts 60 cycles 1700rpm Phase 1 class E. Would like to gain speed control. I tought woul use a Variable voltage supply to achieve this. Any sugestions and recomendations? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
