I had a 7' mh Legend Elite rod build for me 2 years ago... I had to the rod built with a short handle ( my preference). When I got the rod, it seemed heavy??? dont know if it was just me. I now want a longer butt section and would prefer to have no foregrip like the kistler heliums. What would it Cost me to have to rod "rebuilt ?" Anyone who can do this job can email me at basscatcher@mail.com concerning this issue or any other tips/tricks for my problem. Re: "rebuilding" a rod

Chuck,
Click on the "directory" button at the top in black and find a builder in your area and you should find one willing to give you some info. Hope this helps, Noel Re: "rebuilding" a rod

Just to add my .02 cents....depending on what you learn with this post, you may want to consider acquiring the same blank and starting from scratch. Use some of the newer, lighter components available today, make sure the handle is to your specs....and make sure the builder balances the rod out to the reel you're using. You can never have too many rods!!! Re: "rebuilding" a rod

Chuck,
Certainly a doable job. If you don't want a foregrip, and do want a longer rear grip, there is a good chance you can rebuild from the back of the rod without stripping all the guides and starting over. However, the best bet is to strip the blank and redo. Another option is to extend the butt section on the design that you currently have. If the rod seems "tip heavy" then locating the reel seat farther forward by making the rear grip longer probably wouldn't solve this problem. Take a close look at the number of guides at the tip and the epoxy. You'll get a range of quotes. For the blank strip and rebuild, you should expect to pay at least $75, probably more. It's a couple hours work just to strip the blank and remove the reel seat and old cork without damaging the blank, then new cork, seat and rewrap the guides. The rear handle extension would be less, probably in the $30-$40 range. Good luck. Email if you have questions. Terry Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
