Has any one ever tried tru oil on a blank as a blank coating??

Yes, but not on graphite. I have used it on bamboo and flex painted fiberglass. For my own use, but have had no problems so far.

true oil can be used as a first coat as part of a wrap finish. i works really well in making the nylon or silk thread go very transparent. after the first coat dries you can coat with varnish or epoxy. it has the quality of penitrating the thread very well. lots of bamboo rod makers use it this way. you do not want to build it up on the wraps however because it will alegator. i am using it this way on a bamboo rod i am currently building.
