Sorry everyone, my age is starting to show. Those specs for the preceding post should have been as follows: Tip- 8mm, Butt- 14mm, Length 4'10"

that does make a difference. at 8mm the tip is rather thick. sounds like these might be the butt section of a longish two piece rod. i think they would be very stiff for use as a fishing rod. too bad you don't know the pedigree. some bamboo rod builder might want them. tips could be built. i suspect that these are untrimmed butt sections. 5" could be trimmed from the butt and and you would have the butt section of a nine foot rod. of course the trimming would take place after ferruls are mounted.
