Dear friends,
I made a post on Friday asking for help about wrapping AFTCO lightweitght roller guides. Remember frames are made of graphite. They look really cool, but feet are very rough. In my post I wrote: "First problem is that thread does not "slip" over the guides feet. Graphite finish is made very rough and it's finished like this for some reason. I imagin it's not to be scuffed, filed,... Is there any trick? " I've them here just waiting for me to wrap them, but I haven't found any suitable solution. Any idea?. Thanks again to everybody, Daniel Re: Grinding AFTCO lightweight roller guides?

Hi Daniel
I have just used a utility knife to scrape the top of the guide foot smooth. I use guides that fit the blank and rarely have had to shave any material from the side of the foot. I suppose the rough design was to prevent them from pulling loose from the wraps. Just use the Forhan locking wrap and there should be no problems. Chuck Re: Grinding AFTCO lightweight roller guides?

I use "D" size thread and never had a problem.. the only area that I have had to address was the underside, sometimes a guide needs to be opened up a little for the blank and foot to fit right, just use a small rat tail file in them.
