As the subject says, I've been scouring around looking for the following - a 3pc. 9' 4wt. mod-fast action fly rod blank in matte black. The closest I've found in a 3pc is an 8' from Rainshadow. I'm hoping that someone here may just happen to have such a rod and know who makes the blank! 3pc. is a must, as is the 9' 4wt. part and the action. The first option we could drop would be the blank finish color.
Thanks in advance for anyone who has the answer! MP Re: Who makes this - 4wt 9' 3pc mod-fast matte black Fly Blank?

Dan Craft has a 8' 9" Sig V if all else fails. It is a great blank. Stan Grace Helena, MT "Our best is none too good" Re: Who makes this - 4wt 9' 3pc mod-fast matte black Fly Blank?

MP,
Depending on your budget you could go to CTS. They have that setup in a bunch of different graphite and layups. Not sure of the cost though. Also, Dan Craft has the Sig 5 8'9" 4 wt. It is a little faster than moderate fast and CC's a little higher. It fishes a 4 wt line well, but you're casting from the tip only. A 5 wt line really sails on that rod too. Matt,
I think Hook & Hackle's IM6 blanks are mod-fast action. If so here you go. [www.mailordercentral.com] Joe Hamel Re: Who makes this - 4wt 9' 3pc mod-fast matte black Fly Blank?

H&H's blanks are basically Rainshadow's blanks...yes mod fast and that's the closest I was able to find prior to the Dan Craft suggestion.

I think Loomis offers it in the IMX line , Bob at Hook & Hackle has them too , along with his XT51. JHD Re: Who makes this - 4wt 9' 3pc mod-fast matte black Fly Blank?

The 3pc 8ft9 4wt SIG V is one of the best blanks I've ever used at ANY price and it's one you should seriously consider. Re: Who makes this - 4wt 9' 3pc mod-fast matte black Fly Blank?

I agree with all the Sig. V 894-3 recommendations. If you really have to have 9' total length, just extend the butt section a few inches underneath the reel seat. They are available in sanded natural graphite (grey) or unsanded which are glossy and darker with fine ridges from the tape and epoxy in the manufacturing process - sort of like the old Orvis Superfine (in appearance only!). Moderate fast, very light, crisp, powerful, really wonderful blank, as is the 895-3 and 896-3 in the same series. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
