I have a problem.I finished a flyrod and some of my eyelets are still tacky after 2 days. I have had the same rodwrapping finish for 6months and have had no problems. Not all of my eyelets are tacky so I know I mixed the finish correctly. Is there someway to get the tacky eyelets to cure? And is my shelflife of my finish ran out? Re: rodwrapping finish

Here's what happened - you still had some unmixed epoxy on the sides of your mixing container or on your foil. Your brush hits those areas and suddenly you have a wrap or two that remains tacky.
Mix up more finish, mix it thouroughly and scrape the sides of the mixing container as you do so, and apply another thin coat. It'll take care of your problem. .......... Re: rodwrapping finish

What Tom said. If some of your guides aren't setting up and others are, it's a mixing problem. The fact that some set up and others didn't does not mean you mixed correctly but the opposite. If your mix was correct, all would be fine.
When you think you have mixed enough, mix more. And spend lots of attention to the sides and bottom of the cup, not just the middle. I have never had a tacky finish in over 20 years. Finish is not where you want to cut corners. The best wrap in the world can be ruined by a crappy finish job. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
