Low Cost Fluke Blank

I am considering the Forecast FSU56H for a Fluke Rod on a budget. If anyone has experience with this blank or another in the same price range (very low) please share your views with me. I'm choosing a heavy line rating to cover the lead needed in strong currents and the chance of hooking into a larger species. It is for a woman and I think the short length would work in her favor. I ran a search for Fluke blanks but what i found were much costlier blanks. Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Check out the Seeker PS-80. It has a soft upper 1/3 with lots of backbone down low. Trim off the butt to your desired length. Ed

My best cutomer reviews for fluke rods were on a crossover blank. The 7'6" SCIII x-tra-fast 4-10 line test spinning blank built up as a baitcaster. I've got a customer who uses it for light flipping, flukes, even casting salmon spoons! Of the different blanks I've built up and sold for this purpose, that one seems to be getting the best reviews. Good luck!

I built an allstar 963 for flounder....

built it spinning, kept it very light using concept.

have a stradic 2500 with 4/10 fireline on it...

on these blanks I prefer the cork tape to a cork handle, it seems to make the blank lighter (have not compared unit weights of cork vs tape, so this is a feel thing) and keeps the diameter much smaller to allow the rod to "rock" in my hand, this seems to transmit lighter bites better...

Good luck !!

Thank you all for your advice. I will be going with one of the heavier blanks. I plan to build it as a spiral wrap.
I'll let you know how she turns out.

DAve - Fluke = a FW jerkbait, thus the recomendation from Goh. TEh above post seems to be targetting Fluke different than we do. THe Seeker is a nice, thin walled Glass blank. A friend built one for Porgy & Sea Bass, definately good for Fluke.
