Applied my second coat of flex coat to my guidewraps. It looks really easy on the videos but my application turned out really crappy. It has sags, some places have more finish than others, I think I have too small of a brush. Any pointers? Re: finish

Sags are caused by putting on too much finish. Better to use two thinner coats than one super heavy one.
I think you should use a wide, 1/4+ " brush. Small round brushes cause you to poke and brush around which is NOT what you want to do. You just load the wide brush and lower it to the wraps and revolve the rod around once or twice. Then move over and do it again. NO brushing. The less you fuss with the finish the better it is. Yeah...it's been trial and error with me. Thanks for the good advice. Re: finish

i find brushing to be the worst possible way to apply flex coat. i use flex coat light applied with spatulas made from cut up credit cards. you know, the fake ones they send you in the mail all the time. i cut them the width of the wrap. i apply the flexcoat while hand turning the rod so the rod pulls the finish off the spatula. bottom of wrap turning away from me. i apply too much then pull the excess off the bottom with a clean spatula. i get real nice even wraps this way. brushing creates bubbles and uneaven application. i know some folks are very good at applying with a brush but i have never been able to make it work. to clean off any edge slop over (if you want clean edges) i use 20 lb dacron backing. i slide it up against the edge and kind of "floss" it like flossing teeth. you could even dip the dacron in denatured alcohol to help clean off the excess epoxy that has gone over the edge. i get very sharp edges with this method.
