Hello everyone im shure your probably tired of awnsering these kind of posts. but i couldnt seem to find the info.. Im building a 3pc 9ft 4wf rx7 and cant seem to find the guid spacing charts, and i want to get it right... i probably will be using a 12 , 10, for strippers and then 4,4, 3, 3,3, 2,2,2 single foot pac bay guides ... correct me if that dont sound right. and should i wrap the whole length of the fertile or a inch will work?

Thanks for your time

Hi Jay! If you haven't already thought of it, I'd strongly encourage you to click "Library" above, then "Static Guide Placement" by Tom Kirkman. If you "want to get it right", that's how! :)

You're fine with the guide setup, though I would personally do it a bit differently simply because you don't need to taper the running guides that "gently". Using your suggested guide sizes, I'd do a #12 Stripping guide, a #10 Taming guide, then 1 - 4, 2 - 3's, and 6 - 2's.

One inch is plenty of ferrule wrap on an RX7--they're very rugged blanks. I usually wrap no more than twice the OD of the female ferrule, which often works out to closer to 1/2" than 1". If you want to be extra-cautious, 3/4" is plenty IMO.

BTW--I've switched to using #16 stripping guides on everything 4wt and up (unless it's a small stream rod)...I find they don't look as oversized as I imagined they would and I actually can discern a slight increase in performance. It's a personal thing, though--that's one of the cool things about rodbuilding...you get to make it "your" way! :)

All the best,
