Do I still need to use a color preserver Gudebrod HT metallic thread?

Thanks in advance, the information I've collected on RodBuilding.Org has saved my projects many times.

No you don't. This has been discussed in some detail for Gudebrod and other metallics in recent posts. With certain exceptions (such as some of the lighter Sulky metallics, when used in cross wraps), you do not need CP.

No you don't, but it sure helps to tack down the trim band and keep them tight throughout the building process.

Just like Spencer said. The only reason for CP over metallics is to seal the threads in place. There is no fear of the metallic colors fading like regular nylon would do.

Think of it this way. If you went to 'observe' a wet-t-shirt contest would you rather the contestants wear a white cloth t-shirt or a wrap of Reynolds Aluminum Foil? Metallic threads would act as the aluminum foil would in that there would be no reaction at all.

I am in no way condoning wet-t-shirt contests other than in a strict scientific setting. ;-)

I t wa all good till my image girl was draped in Aluminum foil, then I was back to looking for Rodbuilding info. Next time wait a few sentences before you yank that wet tee shirt off the stage.
