Just wondering if anyone has had any issues with the rainforest blank by pac bay,I had a customer that ordered three blanks all 9' 4wt 2pc flyrod blanks,The only problem I noticed was that two out of the three had pronounced sets in the tip sections, anyone else come across this?

i used a pac bay tradition which had a bit of a curve in the tip section. very slight. i handled it by orienting the curve downward. or was it upward? i forget.

i also used a pac bay rainforest 7'-9" 3 weight, 2 piece. the tip section had... squiggles? very slight, hardly noticeable, and only on the last half of that section. it wasn't a case of adjusting, since the tip seemed aligned in the end. just the blank part. this is a very narrow blank.

PS, prompted by sam's post, i just wanted to add that i would not have called these curves excessive at all.

Rich

I built a 9'0" 4 Pc 8 Wt from a PacBay Rainforest blank last summer and I'm currently working on another 9'0" 4 Pc 8 Wt from a PacBay Tradition blank. Both were very nice blanks. No issues with excessive blanks curvature.

The couple I used were pretty straight and I thought the actions and performance were pretty darn good for the $$$ invested.

I worked for a sponsor wrapping on alot of Pacbay fly blanks. It wasn't every day, but I saw this type of thing (sets and squiggles) often enough to make note of it. Like Jonathan said, " pretty darn good for the $$$ invested", which is a nice way of saying "you get what you paid for." Fortunately, all my experience with Pacbay's customer service has been real good and I would think a call might just get you a replacement blank. However, this is a business, so caveat emptor (let the buyer beware).

Tim
