This was asked (but not yet answered) a bit below with respect to guide underwraps, my question is with respect to decorative cross wraps: If I put down a solid underwrap before doing the cross-threads, coat it with epoxy and then do the cross-wraps (an open wrap), what happens if it takes me too long (a real possibility for me, I'm new and slow at this, and undo my work a lot) to finish the wrap, such as several days or a week. I can't scuff that first layer of epoxy, with the new threads now on top. Will a good coat of CP on everything solve that problem? Re: Q about Undercoat

I don't know if this will work, but it seems logical: scuff the epoxy and clean it real good with alcohol before you start the wrap. Re: Q about Undercoat

Thanks Gerry. Follow up question: once an epoxy coat is scuffed, will it "keep"; i.e, will it take a second coat well even a week or more later? Re: Q about Undercoat

Answer to that is yes. What you are doing is breaking the glaise(making it water break free). This give the epoxy some tooth to hold onto. The same as when you prepare a blank for a handle or reel seat. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
