An old subject I bet, but I am going to repair/update a solid glass rod from the fore grip to tip. I want to change the complete color. I heated and cut off the guides and tip, some light sanding took the original white color down to the fiber glass. Some guidance will help.

Check the online library article on blank refinishing. You can tint Permagloss or other urethanes with paint pigment and do it all in one step.

Just finished painting a rod for a friend. As stated above there is alot of info on this site. Mine also a fiberglass almost 9'. Scraped alll finish of anf sanded up to 600-800 grit. Used paint from Pep Boys. Plastic-Kote two light coats and maybe alittle touch up. They also have a clear finish. I used Minwax spar varnish. Three light coats. Used 1000 grit before last coat. Really came out nice. Wouldn't hesitate to do another one.. Hope this helps. Bill. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
