Hi All,

I've just spent about 1/2 hour looking at the photos on this site. Very nice work by all.

Quick question after view some of the photos. What is the best way to design a wrap. Is done on the fly, some type of computer program?

Thanks

Jim

Jim, you can find a lot of the patterns in a book by Dale Clemens, Custom Rod Thread Art.

As for a computer program, there is a great one called VisualWrap.

I don't have visual wrap, but it is a great program and would love to do some of the stuff that it gives you the capability to do.

I don't think that I've ever "designed" a wrap. I generally do diamonds, chevrons or T-birds, and just sort of wing them as I go, no real plan in mind for the most part. If it weren't for my wife, I'd be more stone age than I already am. I don't have a very artistic eye. She comes up with some great ideas on colors, color banding and numbers of threads.

Jim - there are guys who use Tape REplica's, basically different colors of masking tape taped in a certain sequence to form a pattern. Others are able to wor them out on paper. I use Visualwrap. If you are just starting out, and think you would like to learn more than just diamond & Chevrons, get a copy of Custom Rod Thread Art, before buying VW. If you enjoy doing the wraps, then you will be able to appreciate VW much more. Just buying VW before doing any butt wraps, well it will be very consfusing.
