Ok guys here another question. Just got my thread tentioner and mounted it to my jig. I managed to wrap a thread, insert my whip finisher and lock and tie it off on a practice rod. I will practice this till I am comfortable with it, over and over. Do you wrap the thread around the tentioner or just catch one side like a fanbelt on a pulley? Tom Re: Thread tentioner

Do you have the bobben type? If you do you should have a little sping wire with a hook on it. You put the thread in to the hook and just addjust the tension
. Good Wraps Bob Re: Thread tentioner

I've got the one from cabelas. It kind of lokks like a top. It has a tentioning screw on top and a sort of disc pulley in the midle below it. You can see it on their website under rod building. Thanks Tom Re: Thread tentioner

Run on just one side like a fan belt. I have the same ones and it works great. Re: Thread tentioner

You mean you wrap the thread around the tensioner? Yikes! Actually, I have mine running on one side only like a fan belt. My preference is to have the thread go directly from the tensioner placed in front of the stands (closer to me), up onto the blank. I take it that many prefer the thread to come on from behind or above. Re: Thread tentioner
