Rick, what exactly is the Amtac blank you were talking about in response to my TFO rod question - is it the American Tackle AMF908-4 @ $68.75? I want to compare apples to apples against the TFO Professional 9' 8wt 4pc. Thanks.

Tim,

I was thinking of the IMG/IM6 series that Amtak jsut discontinued, but Jann's is still selling. I think they sell for $35 or so. I don't know what all line/length/pc configurations they are carrying, but I know they at least have 9' 2 pc in every weight from 4-12 (no 11).

The Amtak blanks have similar weight, a little more power and a little faster action. They are really smooth though and I'd put them at the top of my 'bargain blanks' list and at the top of my 'mid range blanks' list for overall feel. I really like them.

If you want an action closer to the TFO Professional, get a rainshadow RX7. They are pretty close in feel, weight, action, and power. They are also $60 or so I think.

Thanks
Rick

Tim,

I stand corrected. They don't have nearly as many of the blanks I thought they did. They do have a 9' 8 wt 4 pc though. It is rated a 7-8, but it should fish about the same as the TFO Pro. 8 wt.

Thanks
Rick
