As you guy's know I am building my first rod and don't want to break the bank. I need a drying motor set up. I have seen a few like the @#$%& jobs with the rod chuck with three screws. What do I really need to get buy. Something that spins for the required time without major problems. Need some ideas. would like to stay under 30.00 or so. I dont have the dryer jig but have built my wrapping jig. Thanks Tom Re: drying motors

Hey Tom,
I see plenty of good gear motors on @#$%& under the rod building section. You can get one of those and build a stand for it. Then use the motor with your wraping stand for turning. I would suggest using at least a 12 rpm motor. I've got a 5rpm motor and it's agonizing and I don't think it does the best job leveling the finish. I'm going to rebuild the stand and gear it up to 15 rpm. Mark Re: drying motors

Too slow a motor and Gravity will pull on the finish if to much is applied. 18 is about right. Some use 200 RPM Re: drying motors

FishSticks4U has motors in the 20-30 rpm range for around $7.00. I have two of them and they work great. Re: drying motors

I just checked the FishSticks site. The catalog # is WRAP06. You have to go the the Forecast Wrapper and Parts page. The price is $6.22. The shaft on the motor is 7mm, I think, although I didn't measure it on the ones I got, but it is slightly bigger than 1/4". Re: drying motors
