Soon I will be building a 6'6"Jigging rod, and I've never put together a set of guides for a spinning rod before and I am not sure what size guides to order. Thanks for the help. Re: Spinning rod guide sizes

It depends in part on what size reel you will be using, in part on how things line up with your specific rod and reel. I would recommend using the new concept layout, with high frame guides such as Fuji BYAGs near the butt, changing to Fuji BLAG fly guides near the tip (size 6 is usually good there). If you post the size of your reel, I could recommend some specific BYAG sizes to start with, although your actual rod might require something different. It's worth getting a complete set of guides, such as BYAGs, size 30 through 8L, to test your layouts.

Refer to Tom K's " New Guide Concept Primer" in the Library above. You will be safe using Alconites to save money and move up to SIC's wIth Titanium frames if the budget permits. Remember that reduced weight, especially near the tip, is the best thing you can do to maximiize performance. Single layer guide wraps are the way to go. Take care in prepping the guide feet and you'll have a great rod. Re: Spinning rod guide sizes

To start you can look at St Croix's web site for the rod you are building. This will give you an idea of what sizes you will need. THIS is only a starting point and like said you will have to buy more then needed and match them to the reel you will use -- Articles on the Libary page on Concept guide placement Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
