I've got all my stuff ordered for 6 rods. Have received everything but blanks. In the meantime, I'm filing and the then finishing with a dry flat sharpening stone the guide feet on 50 something BNLG's. It is very time consuming, under light magnification, but I take it this is what you pro's mean about proper guide feet finishing? Re: Time well spent?

I use a grindstone mounted on a drill press, takes less than two minutes to do one guide. Use teflon "bolts" from local hardware store to hold guides.

It may not be to you in time, if you subscribe, but the new issue of RodMaker has an article on quick and easy guide prep. I hate guide prep but demand a nicely shaped and polished foot. I won't spend more than 20 or 30 seconds on the entire operation, and the article will show you how.

It's true! I was using a dremel wheel to grind and then finish off with a craytex polishing wheel Spent several minutes on each guide. I moved to the sanding belt and unity wheel and the time per guide is just seconds now. Much, much easier!!! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
