Hello there,
What would be better than Cabelas Proffesional Rod Finish?
Any feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Better? Nothing really, but most will be different. The Cabelas finish is, I believe, Flex Coat regular build I don't know this for a fact and it may be something done proprietary for them, but I think that's what it is.

All the various epoxy finishes are just fine. They all give similar results but each one may require slightly different application methods. Best thing to do is try a few and settle on one you like and then stay with it, developing your own application technique to get the best results with that one finish.

George, This is one of those topics that almost everyone has an opinion and a preference. However, to me, the differences between finishes such as Flex-Coat, U-40, PacBay, and a few others, are really minscule. Pick any one and master it. That is the way I approach rod building. Or pick up the 4oz kits that many offer, and try each one until you feel comfortable with the preparation, application, and results. Until you try one or the other, you'll never really know for sure.
