5 people have mentioned this to me in the last month, I noticed this myself. I've had my bottles for a while, since September of 2003 - it was as clear as the Resin - crystal clear. Has anyone figured out a way to keep it clear? Has anyone purchased any lately that ws clear? Re: Anyone else have Ambering Aftcote Hardener?

You cannot keep it clear. Amine hardeners all darken with age. It does not mean the finish itself will turn overly dark (although it will darken somewhat). You're looking through a very thick area when you peer through the bottle. In less thickness, say mixed with resin and on the wraps, it won't be nearly as dark.

Billy, I think of it like this. My glass of Pale Ale looks dark amber when it's placed on my rodbuilding bench. Then, when I knock it over and it forms a puddle 1/8" deep, it looks clear enough to read a ruined decal through.
All my hardeners of every brand I've used have all turned amber within 6 months but I never notice it on the rod. Then again, I like dark thread and dark blanks. Steve Re: Anyone else have Ambering Aftcote Hardener?

Steve,
When I drink that amber colored ale it turns a lot lighter color in an hour or so. Re: Anyone else have Ambering Aftcote Hardener?

No matter the color of the beer it is way lighter an hour later. It's like a magic trick turning Guinness into Coors Light. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
