Wrap finishing? It would be no different than for glass or graphite except that you might use a varnish or urethane instead of epoxy.
If you need info on blank finishing, I would consult the folks at Golden Witch. Russ did an earlier article in RodMaker on how to prepare your varnish and dip finish a bamboo blank. ............ Re: First attempt at bamboo

Kelly. You will find that the bamboo folks have the same sort of discussions regarding varnishes that we do epoxies. I am trying to replicate the type of wrap finishes the bamboo guys favor with Klass Kote epoxy paint. But having not built any bamboo rods, I am not in a position to speak about their techniques. I know some of the folks here also frequent the other bamboo boards. Golden Witch is a good source for products. Re: First attempt at bamboo

if your blank is an impregnated blank the process won't really be any different than if you were doing graphite. if is not impregnated the difference is that you finish the blank. it can be done without a dip tube
but involves some work. you can apply a couple of thin coats of marine spar varnish to the blank before wrapping by rubbing it in with your finger tips. then you want to "flat sand" with 320 very lightly the length of the rod being careful not to round the corners. that process fills grain. now you can wrap. finish your wraps and apply two more coats of marine spar to the entire rod. then you have to rub out the varnish with various grades of polishing compounds. its involved and its a little bit of work. the varnish that seems to be recommended is mcloskys man-o-war in the RED can. ace hardware. this explanation has been an over simplification. Birchwood Casey Tru-oil works well and is simpler. Re: First attempt at bamboo
