Hi All,

Yes, these are some great looking guides!!

Check them out:
[shop.mudhole.com]

We made the "recommended for freshwater use" statement because we have not tested them in saltwater yet . We stated that that because the coating that makes the colored frame is a "soft" coating - meaning it is not as hard a PVD, TiCh, TiN, Black Duraplate or hard chrome coating. The frames ARE stainless steel and we would say the colored coating is as good a finish as sold on many production rods made for saltwater that use non-name brand guides, i.e American Tackle, Fuji.

These guide will work in saltwater if you take care of your equipment (wash, clean after use) - but we know most people do not and we did not want customers getting rusting guides after a year of use. So YES you can use them if saltwater, just take care of them.

We'll be making and fishing some rods with these guides shortly to give them a real good testing.

Regards.

Mike,
I build fly rods and have quit using single foot ceramic fly guides because the feet are too long, too wide and you have grind on them forever so you can use a locking wrap. Now, I either use single foot spinning guides or single foot wire guides. Ain't it weird??

I weighed a #6 fly guide; 5.75 grains after grinding. My #6 spinning guides unground weighed 3.55 grains. It takes 11mm of thread wrap to cover the fly guide, 6 mm to cover the spin guide. What's up with that??

Hay Randy
What make spinning and fly guides are these you weighted??. Sounds like it is better to use spin guides for those running guides. And the fly's are supposted to be lighter????????
