Sorry I wasnt clear before, i'm not talking about the length of the guide wraps, i keep mine as short as possible already, and will probably shorten the feet of the recoils.
i'm speaking of the area on the female ferrule, apx 2"-2.5" towards the tip, where the end of the male section stops snug inside. I have seen blanks with just a thread/epoxy wrap at this 'joint' to reinforce the outer walls of the blank. I'm needing to know if this is necessary on such a delicate blank. I have not heard of others doing this on the 1wt. The only reason i ask is that I will be taking this rod to a 15' wide spring creek where being towed around by 14-18" bows is the norm year 'round. Like I said.....big fish on a little stick! RB Re: Recommend guides for Sig III 6'10" 1wt

Tony. I purchased a 6 piece 0/1 weight blank from Dan that was 8'. A SIG IV I think. But I haven't mastered the common sense system yet, so I can't give you the data you need. It does cast a 00 Sage line though, and seemed overlined with a WF1 Rio. Dan also has a 7' 2" blank on hand (as of yesterday) that you could extend, ending the sleeve just inside the grip. Unfortunately, I have not cast any of the Sage TXLs, but the blanks are pricey for what you get. Re: Recommend guides for Sig III 6'10" 1wt

I think I understood you, Robert. I place a guide right on the female ferrule, so the guide wrap is also the reinforcing wrap. Because it is pretty long, I see no need for another wrap ahead of that one, even though the male end is inserted well past the end of the guide wrap. I would not shorten the REC foot for the reasons stated. Be forewarned, that guide is tough to cut or bevel. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
