Blank Exposed Seat

I am building a magnum heavy mag bass rod on a Rainshadow IMB845. The customer wants four inches removed from the butt. I have two Fuji Exposed Blank Seats that fit. One is a 14.0 and the second is a 14.0 - II. If I have this figured out correctly, the one with the Roman Number II is bored at an angle and the other one is straight bored. There must be some reason that Fuji makes these seats in this manner. If you were building a rod for flippin in heavy cover which one of these seats would you use. I have put both of them in place and can not see one better than the other. The customer wants this rod built up using the principles detailed in Rich Forhan's Revolver rod, i.e., no foregrip, light and spiraled. Does it have to with comfort and the way the individual customer holds the rod? Your comment would be greatly appreciated.

Hidy Bill,

I sure hope that you come up with some viable answers as i have wondered about the exact same thing several times. The last batch of these seats that I ordered alll came in with the II following the size number. Stay in touch.

Later,
Gerald Mc

Fellows -- The seats with I I are the latest version of the ECSM Fuji blank exposed seats. This being a newly designed seat in the pocket/hood area that secures the rear reel foot. There were issues with securing certain smaller size bait casting reels with the earlier design. I am told the newer II models solved the issue.
