Has anyone used Teak wood to make reel seats.? It is oily naturally water repellant and insect repellant and would last a long time with just buffing for a finish.

I am not into wood turning, yet, but Struble has teak inserts for their reel seats in both the hard cover and on-line catalog so they must be ok.

I have done a few teak inserts and complete grips. They are very classy, finish well and should be very durable. They have been quite popular.
