For beauty and function, what's tops? I don't mind extra work at all. Re: Absolute Best Most Beautiful Reel Seat Finish?

I would give the nod to BirchWood Casey Tru-oil for ease of use, durability and appearance.

The most beautiful, durable, flexable, clear and non-yellowing finish? Glas-Tech 9000 Aliphatic Urethane by Hawk Research Labs Inc. Sprayed in multiple thin coats, and buffed with 3M Finesse-it. Applied in this manner, it has a durability and gloss rating higher than any automotive finish. However, since that coating system is $150.00 per 1 can each Resin, Catalyst and Reducer and, and requires a compressor, spray gun, a spray booth with an explosion proof motor and lots of time and experimentation....I say Tru-Oil by Birchwood Casey.

Stabilized wood and a buffed coat of wax.
I also am a tru-oil fan and that is what I use. Usally over a thinned coat of finish that I let "soak in" for a few days. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
