Hello All,

Anybody know which sponsors carry the Talon blanks? Or, do you have to buy direct?

Thanks,

Philip Ptak

Phil,

Angler's Workshop has them in the catalog. I hear (but haven't tried) that they will get about any of them for you that the factory has because they are a few minutes down the street from each other. Give them a call and find out.

On another note, if you haven't already you need to check out the Talon ITM blanks. I have a 13' 4-10 lb 3 pc here that weighs either 2.4 or 2.7 oz. Awesome GL steelhead rod. They also make a set of 11'9" 6, 7, and 8 wt fly blanks. I have the 7wt here built and it is a nice steelhead rod. I haven't fished it yet, but it will be great for GL steel, and I plan to try it on big water streamer trout soon. I have an extra here if you are interested. Drop me a line, you have my email.

Thanks,
Rick

Phil,
Angler's has them and their IM6 instore blanks are Talon's. Good stuff. Getting to see many more of them on the BC rivers when I go up there.

Thanks, guys! I will give A.W. a shout. I am actually interested in the Talon Carp blanks for Euro Carp rods. Believe it or not, but the Talon Carp blanks actually have a good reputation in the UK were the carp is the Queen of the Rivers. Strange....we want the UK stuff and they want ours!

Kyle,

I built it as a switch rod with a short rear grip and a lengthened front grip (9" I think). It casts well with one hand or with two. I need to get it on the water to really see what it will do, but with a windcutter 6/7/8 it loads up pretty well.

It is perfect for the Cat, Grand, or the other big Erie waters.

Thanks,
Rick

What was your guide selection on the rod?? Longest ive made is 10 footers in fly rods (14 foot float rod). Gonna be makin one of these (11'9" 7) as well as the rainshadow 12'6" 7/8 once the family gets moved into the new place.

Thanks
Kyle

Kyle,

I used Fuji #7 TLSG runners and the V-frame Ti/SiC guides (16/12/10) for the strippers. The TSG/TLSG are my goto guides for high end long fly and float rods since they are so light.

Thanks,
Rick
