Glass Coat, 2 coats

I've just put on my first coat of Glass Coat. I need to then apply a waterslide decal, and then another coat on top of the decal. What I'm wondering, as I've never used glass coat before, is how long should I wait before I put on the decal and then the final coat? Re: Glass Coat, 2 coats

I haven't used Glass Coat (yet). But on the subject of placing waterslides on top of rod finish in general:
I found that the waterslide on top of fresher rod finishes won't "slide" for me unless I scuff the small area where it's to be placed first. It just sticks like a normal decal wherever it sets down at if I don't suff it up with some gray Scotch brite first. If you saved the "puddle" of finish and you can scuff it with no problems, the rod would be ready to go at that time. I've done them in 24 hours with the finish that I use. Hope this helps, Putter Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/29/2005 03:30PM by Randy Parpart (Putter). Re: Glass Coat, 2 coats

Putter, I have come across this also, I can't get the decal to slide around if the finish hasn't cured hard even with a drop or two of detergent in the water. No problems when I apply it to the gloss blank though.

That's what solved the problem for me; just wait until the finish is set enough to gently scuff up-then the decal will slide when it's applied as long as it stays within the confines of the area scuffed. Slide outside of it, and it sticks again. It doesn't take a lot of pressure on the Scotch brite pad to do this and the fresh batch of finish over top of the waterslide decal brightens the scuffed area right back up and the area under the waterslide looks just fine, also.
