G'Day everyone,
I have an order for a Smuggler style rod approx 7' to 7.5' and in a 3-4wt. The guy who has ordered it mountain bike rides into some very rough country to fish very tight streams and needs something he can break down into approx 6 pieces. He also needs to be able to pack it into a backpack or mount it suitably onto his bike. I have never built anything of this nature so any advice about blanks and manufacturers would be greatly apprecaited. Thanks again Re: Smuggler blank

Dan Craft makes some exceptional multi piece blanks that would probably work well for you and will probably cost you far less than you expect.
Drop him an email(you can click on the link to his site on the left hand side in the sponsors area) and let him know what you are looking for.He will probably recommend something in his SIG III or SIG IV series. If a slow action blank(great for small streams and short casts) interests you,Lamiglas still offers their honey yellow fiberglass blanks in 3wt-5wt lines,6ft6-8ft lengths, and up to 10 pieces if you want. Mark,
I do not know if they sell their blank, but I had been looking at rods from www.marchbrown.com for the very same reason. Also Global Dorber has a 6 foot 3piece in 3/4 weight. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
