alignment dots

I had an idea, maybe not original, but I haven't heard anyone else suggest it. I recently contacted Decal Connection and suggested that they offer alignment dots on strips of decal film. I suggested two dots per strip, about three-quarters of an inch apart for application accross the rod section joints. They said they would send me some to try out.

What do you guys out there think? Useful idea? Dumb? Anyway, I'll post my results. If all goes well they might be offered at Decal Connection.

It's a fine idea. An earilier issue of RodMaker discussed many more - such as feather quills, single thread woven alignment marks, etc.

Decal Connection could go even farther if you suggested it, and instead of just two straight lines, you might have them incorporate some type of cursive design culminating in two alignment points. Just something a little more elegant than simple dots or lines.

I think it is a great idea. I like the dots and have trouble getting them right. Would save time too.

I will inform the board of my findings. I'm getting ready to build a new rod and will use these experimental dots. I'll try to post pictures. It won't be real soon. I work two jobs and free time is sometimes at a premium, but it shouldn't be too long either. Thanks for the input guys. R. Laughlin
