psi vs jet mini lathes

Any opinions on whether the jet mini lathe is worth the extra cost vs the psi turncrafter pro?

I sometimes buy stuff from PSI. I have not tried their lathe. JET is a good, solid lathe. I would pay the difference and get the Jet. My opinion is that PSI sometimes/most times cuts a few corners to get the price down. I don't think I have ever been totally happy with a larger tool or accessory I bought at PSI. Jet sells a lot of stuff. Probably got a lower markup. Have put a lot of work in designs, etc in the last few years.

I have the PSI and love it (I haven't used a Jet so I can't make a comparison) From the looks of the Jet, I'd almost bet that they came down the same assembly line and out the same factory door and on to the same ship bound for the U.S. The specs on both are almost identical except the PSI has a larger motor. You can get the PSI for $155 and with the bed extension for $175.

I would think that either would be a good choice, but if you're like me............. The extra $50 went towards chucks and tools

If you shop around you can actually get the Jet for less. I was lucky on my timing, and got the jet for 199, with a promo of 25 off, and recieved free shipping. Total cost was 174, and they shipped it priority, received it in 2 days, right before Christmas. The turncrafter was 159 plus 30 shipping, and it was not going to be available until the middle of Jan.
I think the Jet is a great lathe, and I was willing to pay the extra money even before I ran accross the deal I received. I've heard a lot of good things about the turncrafter, which made me consider it, but it seemed like the jet was the most recomended of the lathes that are out there.
