Where does the GL4 rank in the Gloomis line?

I have an opportunity to get a Gloomis GL4 9' 9wt 4 piece fly rod that was custom built a fw years ago and a rather poor job was done. My thoughts were to strip it down and redo it. The only blanks Gloomis lists is the GL3 and the more expensive IMX and you have to buy a factory assembled rod to get the GLX model. Does anyone remember where the GL4 fell in the Gloomis line as far as action and price compared to the others listed? Thanks. Re: Where does the GL4 rank in the Gloomis line?

The GL4 was the replacement for the original IMX and was dropped due to poor sales. They were pretty decent, though, and fell into the line exactly between the GL3 and GLX.
What is now sold as the IMX is very similar in some ways, but the actions and models were changed back to more closely resemble that of the original IMX series that had debuted about 1987 or 88. .............. Re: Where does the GL4 rank in the Gloomis line?

Tim,
I have an 8'6" 6 wt GL4 that I built from a blem. It is a real gem of a rod. It will bang out a bunch of line when you need it to, but it has a soft enough tip to throw in short. Really nice rod. Thanks, Rick Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
