How to choose a power wrapper?

I'm wondering how to choose a power wrapper in that $300 range - PacBay, Am Tak, Batson, etc. are all priced very similar, have basically the same product descriptions, and look the same.

Is there one that's got a special feature or one that's missing something important?

Has anyone of you been able to use or really compare more than one?

Thanks for the help.

This won't help you if you can't attend, but the Amtak and Batson models will be on display in Charlotte next month and you could try both for yourself.

My choice would be the first one that offered the PacBay upgraded chuck and stand as part of the purchase price / package. To my knowledge no one is offering that yet.

Take the cue from Tom: It is best to see (and try) one for yourself before plunking your money down. Some builders prefer to wrap with the rod revolving toward them. Some prefer that the rod revolve the other way. Both lathes above revolve away from the wrapper, if I remember correctly.

Clyde -
Correct all three wrap "from the front" -- thread comes from in front of the builder and the blank turns away from the builder ... Opposite the Renzetti and therefore these three really can't be used to turn any hard material (plus the motor on these three are too small for turning) but they will shape cork / hypalon / EVA.
