I just had one of my more frustrating rod building experiences in quite a while! I was wrapping an ice rod with Fuji BLVLG single foot guides for my brohther -in-law. I had the worst time getting the thread to pack tightly on it's way up the foot. That little wing on the guide foot made it very difficult to pack. Any tricks anyone have with these guides?
Thanks, Herb Re: Wrapping Fuji BLVLG guides

Herb , there has been a number of people that have commented on those , I grind some , or all of it off depending on the Dia. of the rod it's going on . I'm sure that you will get some more oppinions on this , they can be a pain to wrap onto smaller blanks like the one you have . Have fun , John Got Fish ? Re: Wrapping Fuji BLVLG guides

It does take quite a bit of grinding, filing, etc to get these to work on a small diameter blank; esp. an ice rod. The smallest guide in this series is a 7; I'd like to see them in a size 6, anyhow. It's easier with the smaller guides to get them to fit the smaller blanks. Re: Wrapping Fuji BLVLG guides

I always grind em off too. I use a locking wrap on all single foot guides so the wing doesn't have a purpose for me. If you want to keep them, thin them down and you'll be able to get a good pack but imo, doing that takes more work than just grinding them off. Plus I think it looks a little cleaner under the thread. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
