Fish butt wraps

I have a mental block (or I am just thick). Dale Clemens book "Custom Rod Thread Art" page 116. The picture shows the eye of the fish, sort of drawn in. How do I make the eye and what part of the instructions refer to making the eye?

I want to use this design but I cannot figure it out!

Full instructions and illustrations were in a past issue of RodMaker (volume 5 #1).

The eye is made on its own center. Just as if you were making the center of a diamond. The body and tail are made from wapping on another center. The eye is a regular diamond, the tail is wrapped as a split diamond with the body a plain chevron.

I generally use my cross layout thread(s) as the "eye," use a different color if you want the eye to stand out. I just happened to be taking a break from a fish wrap when I read this. Using holographic "thread" (more like tinsil) for the eye. Good wraps!

Make the eye bright as you want to make it small and still stand out. Make the centers 1.75 to 2 times longer as this makes the fish longer and not so fat which fits on the blank better. Make the body chevron small as the body will keep growing as you wrap the fins and tail. Make the top of the body darker than the bottom half. Wrap the tail and fins at the same time. Wrap the tail as a +1, or +2 or +3 depending how curved you want the tail, one thread the fish colour and the othre the back ground.
Cheers Ron.

Daves site is the best picture directions I have ever seen for doing a fish wrap. The tail is a little tricky the first time , but once you get it ................. you got it. John

Got Fish ?
