Serpentine pattern for power wrapper

I have done two rods on my ATC power wrapper now and tried different serpetine patterns with the thread/ bobbin posts/ tensioner. The last 'couple of wraps I did, the tensioner bound the thread to the point it god frayed and/ or broke. In both cases, of course, I had to re-wrap that wrap. I thought my tension was too tight, but it did it with the very loosest of tension. I checked the faces of the pressure plates and they are clean, dry and smooth. I can only think that I have not figured out the proper pattern of thread-guide-tensioner-guide serpentine pattern(?). Any advise is sorely needed before I buy Mr Guidebrod a new factory! Thank you in advance! -- JC

Hi Jim,

It maybe 1 of 3 problems or a combination of the 3.

1. You are putting too much tension on the thread with the tension devise.
2. Your'e getting thread falling off the spool and wrapping around the spindle post.
3. Your'e not threading the threat correctly.

1. To correct #1 put 35 penney's in a plactic bag, tie it onto the thread and hang it the blank and adjust the thread tenioner so the thread begins to spool off the spool. At this point I tighten the tenioner about 1/2 turn more.

2. Be sure that your thread spool is always tight to avoid thread from falling off and winding around the post.

3. Put thread into the first plastic eye, wrap thread clockwise onto the tenioner, hook on the aroung spring, put thread through 2nd plastic eye and you'll be all set.

Hope this helps.

Jim I don't know whether your ATC wrapper has that additional spring on the tensioner that picks up the slack when you back off a bit on the wrap, I found this a nightmare on my pacbay wrapper caused to much tension, and extreme fuzzies, I now bypass it. I also have fitted an additional tensioner I got from jann's which I tend to use more as the spring is lighter. I hope this helps.
