I need to ship a blank overseas (Italy). I tried a PVC tube, but the post office would not accept it. Does anyone have any hints for international shipping of rod blanks? Thanks. Re: International Shipping

I ship blanks under 60" overseas via USPS all the time...that's weird? I think FedEx is the next best....UPS stinks because of all the paperwork involved.

Maybe I'll try a different post office, ha ha ha.
I was surprised they gave me a hassle over this, as well. I've shipped rods and blanks to Canada, but never overseas. They suggested I use a cardboard box instead of a PVC tube. I left scratching my head on that one - but there must be some logic. I went to UPS and they wanted $61 to send it. Yikes! It's just a 42# long 1.5" dia PVC tube. It's not a chest full of gold! That was my plan, but finding a 42" long cardboard box was gonna be a challenge. It was looking like an evening in the garage with some duct tape, some old boxes, and a utility knife.
Luckily, I stopped at my local post office on the way home and they took it just fine. Now I just have to sit on pins and needles until it arrives. Bob Re: International Shipping

No worries...I've sent stuff to like 15 different countries with USPS, and have only had one problem....which was probably my fault for not "overpacking" to make sure it didn't get broken.
USPS does a fantastic job. Andy Dear Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
