I want to build a rod for salt and inland stripers, baby tarpon and similar size fish. I own a 9wt rplx and like a similar style rod.
I consider st.croix sciv ,a h&h xt51 and gl3 . looking at either a 9ft. 10 wt. or a 10 ft. 9 suggestions appreciated

Dan Craft Sig V 9' 10 weight was one of the most powerful rods I've ever cast. Built one for a trip to Florida and for pike/muskie in MN. Turned out that the rod was perfect for the little tarpon and the big flies for muskie, but even when I hooked good-sized pike I felt like I was hooking minnows.

I matched the rod with a SA WF11F Tarpon taper and didn't even need to haul to get to the backing knot. Some serious inertia there...

Hey Bill,
I just built an older Loomis GL2 9' 10wt for my Dad for x-mass specifically for the same purpose Striper, Snook, Redfish & small Tarpon. He used it last week down in FL and said it worked out great!

I have a Sage Xi2 10wt that I love however I am really excited about my latest purchase of a T&T Horizon 9' 9wt. I wanted it in 10wt but all they had was the 9..... got the blank on closeout special! I used these rods on charter trips in the everglades and I have not seen anything that compares! Sage comes close and I have never thrown a Dan Craft. I have heard excellent things about the Dan Craft and that might have to be my next project!

Tom
