Question? If you cut an old rod right at the winding check, can you then re-ream the old handle and reel seat and then glue a new blank in there? I have built a few rods from kits but am still very green at all this. I am now semi-retired and have a lot more time to give to it. I have several decent broken rods to mess with and wondered if this could be done. Thanks Steve Re: old reel seats-grips

You sure can do that. It's a lot of work/time and the ID will be slightly bigger.

That's an old repair trick. It will make for a little heavier rod but for doing odd job repairs or rods that aren't very expensive it's okay. Re: old reel seats-grips
