Bob,
I have used the Soft Touch casting reel seats for about 3 years now, and I love them. Both Jann's Netcraft and Cabela's sell the casting and spinning models. They have a non-slippery feel to their texture that allows you to maintain a very comfortable grip on your rod, but they aren't soft and mushy as the name might imply. While they are a little pricey compared to the standard or deluxe seats in the Fuji lineup, I figure it's worth the monetary difference if it prevents me from slinging a rod and Daiwa CVZ-203 into the lake, which happened to a friend of mine on his custom rod and Shimano reel before these new grips were available. They really help out on rainy days by giving you a sure grip. The casting model is the same as Fuji's 'Comfort Grip' trigger TCSD-17 (or TCSM-17) if you're familiar with that one. Hope this helps. Be careful with these, as I bouht the Deluze TRigger model from MErrrick a couple of years ago. It came with a special nut that was way too big, and when fully opened it did not allow ANY reel to fit in teh seat. Fuji sold another piece to this seat, basically an aluminum spacer which I had to get from Japan.
They are SWEET though, just make sure you get the ones with teh right locking nut. If you're building a rod with $100+ of Titanium guides, what's another $20 for the reel seat? I wish they'd make the DPSHD seat Rubberized. Re: FUJI REEL SEATS

Glenn or Billy-
How heavy are these reel seats? They sound interesting to say the least!! But if they're heavier in the weight department they wouldn't work too well for most of what I build. Putter Re: FUJI REEL SEATS

SAme as a regular seat, I guess. I never weighed them on a scale, but I do't notice ay difference whatsoever when they're in my hand. Re: FUJI REEL SEATS

Putter,
I agree with Billy on the weight issue. I havent weighed them either, but I cannot tell a noticeable difference between the Soft Touch seat and a regular Fuji seat. So it would be a negligible weight difference, if any. I remember reading earlier that some people were having trouble with Soft Touch seats not making a good tight fit with the reel, but I haven't had that trouble. Then again, I only use Daiwa CVZ-203s for baitcasting, and it always cinches down tight. Glenn Re: FUJI REEL SEATS
