While waiting for my replacement chuck upgrade I decieded to experiment with the rod stands to try to prevent thr rod from jumping out.$2.00 later here is what I came up with.Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

That's a great idea Fred. I have the same rollers and the rod jumps out on an all to frequent basis. Especially when stripping the thread off of old guides.
I'll certainly be doing something similar. Thanks Andy Woodford Cheers Andy Woodford Re: Pac Bay rod stands modification

I have the same problem, except with me the rod comes out of the chuck. A real bummer when the epoxy is fresh. Gonna contact Pac Bay if I can't figure this out soon.

Tom ,I had that happen too.I am in the process of upgrading the chuck but the one I got was defective and I`m impatiently for a replacement. What I used to do was put a nylon zip tie on the chuck jaws to prevent it from loosening.I seem to think it only happens when the rotation is a certain way but I can`t recall what direction that was. Another local rod builder showed me how to use a simple hose clamp to secure the chuck. Re: Pac Bay rod stands modification

What I did to stop the rod from jumping out of the rollers was to modife the stand. Where the top roller is attache to the stand I cut a 21/2 inch slot just big enough to get a screw in to. Then I attached the plate that holds the top wheel to a screw and placed it in the slot and then I used a lock nut to hold it in place
