Color opinion question

Started wrapping that walleye rod for my cousin. Used a black reel seat, silver(chrome) alconite guides, burgandyish lamiglas blank. I was thinking about garnet w/ no cp which I've always thought looked cool on brownish blanks, and silver electra to help bring out the silver guides. Trouble is, is started wrapping it, now for the first time ever I'm second guessing my color selection. Don't know if it is the reel seat being black, but something seems amiss. Anyone wrapped these colors together? I usually use gold w/ garnet, that may be the difference. But thinking if I used gold, then there is nothing to tie in the chrome guides. Help?

I've used silver with garnet and it looks very nice. I usually prefer gold with it, but there's nothing wrong with the way silver trim looks, imo.

[www.fishingphotos.net]

Plum All Star IGSP blank. Too bad I do not have a picture of the guide wraps - silver TRim on both ends of single foots, wit Garnet no CP, no unerwrap. It's really a nice color combo.

Teh reel seat is so far away fro teh guide wraps, even if you used aGold reel seat, I doubt 3/4 of the people would notice it doesn't match.

Is Silver Electra the Holographic stuff? I'm really not all that familiar with Gudebrod threads outside of Nylon.

Billy, yes its somewhat holographic. I've been looking at the Sulky thread at local shops, that's a whole new can of worms I'll look at when I start using up what I already have.

If it's similar to teh Pizm Holographics, then I would say that will look even better. Just imo don't overdo teh amount of the Holo's on the rod, or it will overdo it and make the rod look - again, imo - like a Pimp rod, lol.

teh = the. Sorry.

I'm about to get some Sulky Metallics, but after I buy Fishhawk/YLI & Superior. That metallic cannot be used for guide wraps, but is really quality thread for underwraps and butt wraps. I believe the Sulky is as well, althouh I haven't used it yet.

Sulky has two different metallics.
"Sliver" is a thin ribbon of just the metallic sheath-no strength to this stuff at all.
Their other metallic is very similar to Gudebrod's metallic thread and is fine as a guide wrap.

In place of the silver - try a pearl metallic and take a look. I like the garnet. The pearl will have more highlights and is not quite as dull as the silver.
