What is the best way to attack guide feet that are wider than the top of the blank? I'm using an AFTCO wind-on stripper and these guides have a fairly wide foot. On some of the blanks I use the feet stick out over the top of the blank and are almost even with the middle portion (or the outer diameter) of the blank. This gives the wraps a squared off appearance. Is it acceptable to grind the feet narrower? The only drawback here is that the feet are the same width as the guide frame and grinding would leave marks along the bottom edge of the frame. I have one completed rod with the original width feet. Other than being a bit square they seem fine. What do other builders do in a situation like this? I hope you all had a good holiday season. Jay Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
