Hi All,
with all of this custom rod building has anyone ever tried custom anodizing their own reel seats or reels? If so which kits would you recomend?

Thanks Tom

Check out Ron Newman's web page on anodizing aluminum at home. His information is found at: WWW.focuser.com/atm/anodize/anodize99.html.
I haven't done this myself, but was curious enough about it to look for information last week. I was wondering too, about its application to custom rod building, plus I own an old and paint-worn Pflueger reel that I thought I might strip and anodize. However, unless you need to do a lot of anodizing, or a very deep anodizing, it might be better to have it done at a metal shop. Anodizing seems pretty involved, but it is amazing what can be accomplished at home with all the colors, not to mention the durability added by the process. I just haven't figured out if I can make use of this at home.

Jim - I tried the web address I posted above for Ron Newman's page on anodizing and it worked fine for me. Try again or do a search for anodizing aluminum.
