I'm looking to build a 9' 8-weight fly rod for saltwater fishing and have more or less made my mind up on the Dan Craft FT after reading some good reports on it here.
Could anyone please give me some good advice on choosing reel seats/guides etc for a saltwater rod. Also has anyone built a rod for this purpose on one of these blanks? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Re: Dan Craft FT

Daniel , I'm starting a 9'6wt FT this morning (finaly), I'm going to use a Pac Bay woven graphite seat , a small burl cork cap , full wells grip , 1 #12 high framed stpipper(BSVOG) , a 1 #10(BNLAG) 1 #8J , and # 6 alconite fly guides the rest of the way .........well , that's the plan , though it might change. It will be my spring striper rod , and may see trout fishing in high water with a lot of nymphs and weight.
Good luck . John Got Fish ? Re: Dan Craft FT

Daniel,
I too am building a 6 wt. FT, I got the guides (single foot zirconia rings) and the rest of the components from Dan. You can't go wrong with the A-8 titanium reel seat and the cork Dan sells is good quality for the money. Also, the cork fighting butts with EVA bottom he sells are also great. When you call to order the blank Dan will answer any questions you might have. He is a great to deal with. Cal Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
