I found several colors of Sulky #40 that I think will be excellent for an RPLXi 11/12 weight I am building. I know nothing about the strength of the Sulky thread relative to Gudebrod size A nylon. Is there any reason the Sulky should not be used on rods for larger fish? Re: Sulky For Saltwater Fly Rod?

I wrapped a medium-power 10 1/2 foot surf rod entirely with Sulky Metallic #142 Series thread. I used it for a couple of weeks this summer and fall, have not had any big fish oniy, but have cast a lot with it. It remains in perfect condition and I have no worries about the thread. I know nothing about the #40 Series. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
