What happened ??

Been away from the site for a couple of weeks, logged on to find this new format.

At the top it says registration offers more options but I can't see where to do this.

Not sure that I like the looks of this layout.
It seems to be very 'clinical' with the harsh white background and the small black lettering - very confusing and difficult to read and no where near as friendly and welcoming as the old board. Also, the font that is appearing as I type is a little 'story book' looking.

Will we be stuck with this format from here on or are there any plans to make it more user friendly ?

There was probably a valid reason for changing but this a huge move. I do hope that this software doesn't support those horrible yellow 'smilies'.

I was forced to move to this newer software. The old stuff is no longer supported and has some security issues as well.

There are several things about the board that I certainly don't like, but we're working on some cosmetic changes so that things will appear more as they did originally. I plan to dump the "smilies" if I can. Some features are integral and can't be done away with, however.

If you want to register, you need only look at the top of the message window where it begins "GoTo" and hit the Log In button. Then you will have the option to register. Registering will allow you to view the board in the old threaded view option, if you wish.

What's wrong with "smilies"?? They don't take bandwidth, nor much space, are non-political and I can't imagine why they would "offend" anybody

Tom,

Thanks for the reply. I knew that you must have had a good reason to change.

I know that it is new and will take some time to get used to - the actual layout is not so bad - but it would be good if you can get an easier to read format - us wrinklies need all the help we can get in the vision department.

Mike re:smilies,

I think that they are just an unnecessary distraction.

Usually a board which supports smilies ends up looking like a Christmas tree, I have seen posts where they are used to make patterns and even initials.

If I want Disney, I can visit Orlando.
