Whatcha think so far???

Guys,

Wanted to shoot you a couple pics of my latest work in progress. Rainshadow
float rod for my 7 Y.O. daughter Carly. All colors chosen by "my bubba" and
artistic license given to me. (Not sure thats a good thing!)

Trim band width on the butt wrap was determined by her ( I would have gone a
little narrower, but she insisted on the bling-bling) along with the
repeated color scheme. Main colors pink/red. Accent colors black, gold,
purple. This is my first attempt at a chevron wrap, which came out great
IMO. After choosing to put an "X" pattern as an accent in between the
repeated "V's", it think it looks even better.

Ferrule wraps and hookkeeper wraps were done with a majority of purple with
black trim bands.

All guide wraps will have a main black thread wrap with a three wrap trim
band and a 1/4 way into the guide, a two wrap solid color band. All colors
in the guides will follow the same scheme as the main chevrons in the butt
wrap and will alternate on each guide as I make my way up to the tip top.

Colors in the beaded fighting butt were chosen to reflect those of the
thread colors. Wire underwrap was out of the fly tying supplies and as
close to metallic red as I had. All guides will be coated with Gudebrod
High Build. The Butt wrap will be several coats of Flex Coat thin, and the
beaded fighting butt will most likely get a few coats of highbuild to seal
it up well.

So far, my main critic says, "She likes it alot!" And that makes it all
worth it! ehehhehe

Criticisms welcome.

Thanks,
Domenic

p.s. next up: Rainshadow 10'6" 6WT fly rod and a 11'6" noodlerod for the
summer smallie and catfish patrols.

I like - been thinking about making one for the wife and daughter myself before spring time comes. I really like the bead work.

Really Nice!! How about some details on how you did the bead work. Is the groove filled with finish??

Post the pix on the Photo Page when it's back up so it will always be available
